Configuring Your Nobi Assistant
Nobi adapts its behavior to your business. By configuring your business identity and objectives, you tell Nobi who you are and what you want to achieve — and the AI assistant adjusts its language, tone, and conversational strategy automatically.
Business Objectives
Business objectives tell your AI assistant what success looks like for your business. This changes how the assistant steers conversations — an ecommerce site wants to drive purchases, while an auto dealership wants to book test drives.
To configure your objectives, go to Configuration > Business Objectives. Choose from:
- Drive sales and conversions — The assistant actively guides visitors toward completing purchases
- Generate leads and inquiries — The assistant focuses on capturing visitor contact information for follow-up
- Book appointments and consultations — The assistant steers visitors toward scheduling meetings or visits
- Custom — Describe your own objective in free text and the assistant will pursue it
You can also provide additional instructions to give the AI more specific guidance about how to pursue your objective.
Industry
Industry tells Nobi what kind of business you are and how your AI assistant should communicate. This is configured in Configuration > Business Identity.
Industry
Set your industry (e.g., "Automotive Dealership", "Fashion Retail", "Real Estate", "SaaS") and Nobi will automatically adapt its language and terminology. An auto dealer's assistant will naturally talk about vehicles, test drives, and financing, while a fashion retailer's assistant talks about styles, fits, and outfits — all without any manual prompt configuration.
The industry field accepts any value — type whatever best describes your business.
Brand Voice
Brand voice controls your AI assistant's communication style. Describe how you want it to sound in plain English. For example:
- "Professional and knowledgeable, like a trusted advisor"
- "Casual and friendly, like talking to a neighbor"
- "Luxurious and refined, matching our premium brand positioning"
Brand voice is optional — if left blank, the assistant defaults to a friendly, professional tone.
How It All Works Together
When a visitor interacts with your AI assistant, Nobi combines your business identity (industry + brand voice), your business objectives (what success looks like), and your company description to shape every response. The AI reads this context and adapts naturally — there are no per-industry templates or hardcoded scripts.
This means:
- An auto dealership with a "Book appointments" objective gets an assistant that naturally asks about vehicle preferences and steers toward test drive scheduling
- A fashion retailer with a "Drive sales" objective gets an assistant that recommends outfits and encourages add-to-cart
- A service provider with a "Generate leads" objective gets an assistant that builds rapport and offers to connect the visitor with a specialist
Onboarding
If you signed up through our onboarding wizard, Nobi automatically detected your industry from your website and asked you to set your business objectives during setup. You can always change these later in Configuration.
If you skipped these steps during onboarding, we recommend configuring them now — they make a meaningful difference in how relevant and natural your assistant's responses feel to your visitors.
