Previewing Nobi


Before installing Nobi on your live site, you can preview and test it directly from your dashboard. This lets you see how Nobi works with your actual products and knowledge base, try different launch components, and build confidence before going live.

The Dashboard Homepage

After completing the onboarding wizard, you'll land on your dashboard homepage. This is your preview environment where you can interact with Nobi using your real data.
What you'll see:
  • Component Playground - Try different Nobi launch components with your products
  • Quick stats - Number of products and knowledge base documents indexed
If you’re a new customer, you’ll also see:
  • Product indexing status - Progress indicator while your catalog is being imported
  • Onboarding checklist - Track your setup progress

Component Playground

The Component Playground lets you interact with each of Nobi's launch components before deciding which ones to install on your site.

Available Components

Search Bar
The AI-powered search bar that replaces or enhances your existing site search. Type queries to see how Nobi finds and recommends products.
Button
A floating button that opens the Nobi assistant. Click it to start a conversation and see how Nobi handles customer questions.
Suggestion Pills
Clickable prompts that appear on your site to encourage customers to engage with Nobi. See how they look and what happens when clicked.

How to Use It

  1. Select a tab to view that component
  1. Interact with it just like a customer would
  1. Try different queries to see how Nobi responds
  1. Switch between tabs to compare components
The playground uses your actual product catalog and knowledge base, so what you see is what your customers will experience.

Free Preview Messages

You can send up to 100 messages per month from the dashboard before starting a free trial. This gives you room to thoroughly evaluate Nobi without any commitment.
What counts as a message:
  • Sending a query through the search bar
  • Asking a question via the button or assistant
  • Clicking a suggestion pill
What you'll see:
  • Your remaining message count is displayed in the dashboard
  • When you approach or reach the limit, you'll be prompted to start your free trial
Monthly reset:
  • Your preview message count resets on the 1st of each month
  • If you don't use all 100 messages, they don't roll over

Preview vs. Live

It's important to understand the difference between previewing Nobi in your dashboard and having Nobi live on your site.

Key point: Until you start a free trial and install the embed code, Nobi will not appear on your live website. The dashboard preview is just for you to evaluate the product.

While Products Are Indexing

When you first connect your store, Nobi imports and indexes your product catalog. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on your catalog size.
During indexing:
  • You'll see a progress indicator on the homepage
  • You can still preview Nobi, but search results may be incomplete
  • Results improve as more products are indexed
After indexing completes:
  • All your products are searchable
  • The progress indicator disappears
  • You'll see your full product count in the stats
Don't worry if early search results aren't perfect—they improve as indexing completes and during the warmup period.

Going Live

Once you've previewed Nobi and are ready to add it to your site:
  1. Click Go Live or Start Free Trial in your dashboard
  1. Complete checkout with Stripe (no charge for 30 days)
  1. Copy your embed code from Settings → Installation
  1. Add the code to your site
After installation, Nobi will be live for your customers.

Tips for Evaluating

Try different query types:
  • Product searches ("red dress", "summer collection")
  • Questions ("what's your return policy?", "do you ship internationally?")
  • Long-tail searches ("comfortable shoes for standing all day")
Test your knowledge base:
  • Ask questions that should be answered by your indexed documents
  • Verify the answers are accurate
  • Add more knowledge base pages if needed
Compare components:
  • Think about where each component would fit on your site
  • Consider your customer journey and where AI assistance adds value
Check product results:
  • Ensure your best-selling products appear for relevant queries
  • Verify product images and details display correctly
