Product & Features

What can I do with Nobi?

Nobi works on any website where visitors are looking for products, inventory, or information. For ecommerce sites, we recommend enabling it in your search bar and on collection pages. For auto dealerships, it helps visitors find vehicles by make, model, price, or features. For service businesses, it answers questions and guides visitors toward booking or inquiries. Nobi adapts its language and behavior to your industry automatically.

Does Nobi replace my current search?

Up to you. Nobi can become your default search bar experience, or you can use other elements like our suggestion pills or button to prompt shoppers to use Nobi outside of search. Learn more about launch components.

How is Nobi's search better than traditional search?

Nobi's searches tend to be more relevant because we use a hybrid of semantic and keyword search. Your customers don't have to click lots of filters since Nobi can understand their requests in natural language, and Nobi offers lots of UX optimizations, including the ability for your customers to add items to their carts in one click. Can my site’s visitors filter or somehow update their searches?

Yes! All they have to do is ask. Unlike traditional search engines, which make visitors click through boxes, toggles, and filters, Nobi understand when your visitors want to filter a search based on natural language. After search results show up, they can simply say what they want instead and Nobi will execute a new search with the right filters applied (as long as any relevant attributes are present in your product feed in a structured format).

Does Nobi remove zero-result searches?

Yes! Nobi uses semantic search, which allows us to always return results, even if there are no exact matches. This dramatically reduces customer frustration and lost sales from dead-end searches.

Can visitors add products to their cart through Nobi?

Yes! Nobi has a "quick add" feature that allows shoppers to add products directly to their cart from the Nobi interface, streamlining the purchase process.

Do you have merchandising capabilities?

Yes! Nobi includes merchandising features that allow you to boost, bury, slot, or hide specific products. You maintain full control over what appears in search results. Learn more in our Merchandising Overview.

What kind of reporting do you have?

Nobi provides performance metrics on search usage, conversion rates, and other key indicators to help you understand how Nobi is impacting your store's performance. In addition, we provide deep insights, analytics, trends, topic analytics, search feature breakdowns, and acquisition channel reporting that shows which traffic sources (organic search, paid ads, social, direct, etc.) drive the most searches, clicks, and revenue through Nobi. What happens if someone asks a question Nobi can't answer?

Nobi is designed to only use the content of your site or product catalog to answer questions. If a shopper asks something outside of that scope, Nobi is instructed to let visitors know it doesn't have enough information to help. While we can't guarantee there won't ever be hallucinations, we've found that this approach minimizes them significantly.

Can Nobi be customized to match my brand?

Can Nobi handle multiple languages?

Yes! Nobi supports multiple languages and can be configured to understand and respond in the languages your shoppers use.

Is there a limit to the number of products Nobi can handle?

Nobi can handle product catalogs of varying sizes, from small boutiques to large enterprises with hundreds of thousands of products. For very large catalogs, we recommend reaching out to our team to discuss the best setup for your needs.

How does Nobi handle accessibility?

Nobi is built with accessibility in mind, following best practices to ensure it is usable by all shoppers, including those using assistive technologies. You can read more in our Accessibility guide.

Do you use ChatGPT? Did you build your own model?

Nobi uses a dynamic combination of existing LLMs, including ChatGPT, along with various other models. For some features, like product recommendations, we will combine our own models with these LLMs to deliver the best results.

Can you also pull in reviews and other external data? If so, how do you do it? Do you scrape the web?

We can definitely pull in external data like reviews, but we don't scrape the web. Instead, we rely on APIs or data feeds that you provide to us to ensure that we're using accurate and up-to-date information.

Can I use Nobi on a headless storefront?

Yes! Nobi is designed to work seamlessly with any website. All you have to do is drop in our JavaScript snippet and import your product catalog.

Does Nobi work with my platform?

Nobi is designed to work on any site. For product search, you can point Nobi to your product feed, or if you’re on Shopify, Nobi will pick up your feed automatically. For general Q&A or sales associate capabilities without a product catalog, Nobi will work with whatever information you have available to ensure your site’s visitors get accurate information. You can also add custom actions and overrides to ensure Nobi works with your visitor’s requests.

Setup & Integration

How hard is it to integrate my product catalog?

If you are on Shopify, it is either automatic (for stores with fewer than 25,000 products) or 2 minutes to set up Nobi as a custom Shopify app. For non-Shopify sites, you can upload a CSV feed, connect via FTP, or provide a JSON API endpoint. Nobi automatically detects your column structure and maps your data — no manual configuration needed. Check out our Getting Started Guide for details.

How long does install take?

It takes a couple of minutes to add the base Nobi code and the event tracking code to your site, and then a few more minutes to add the Nobi element that you want to enable. See the Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Can I preview Nobi before putting it on my site?

Yes! On the homepage of your Nobi dashboard you can try out our launch components and test how Nobi will respond to your queries. Every Nobi account gets 100 free preview requests a month to test Nobi out directly in the Nobi dashboard.

Privacy & Security

Does Nobi collect PII?

No. Nobi does not collect any personally identifiable information unless you explicitly instruct it to do so.

Testing & Optimization

Can we A/B test it?

Yes. Nobi easily hooks into your A/B testing solution, and we also offer A/B testing as a service to help you optimize your setup. Learn more about A/B testing with Nobi.

Pricing & Support

Can we try it before committing?

Absolutely! We offer a free trial period of 30 days or up to 100,000 messages.

How does pricing work?

Nobi offers tiered plans based on the number of messages your shoppers send each month. Pick the tier that fits your volume, and if you go over, choose to either pause until the next cycle or pay per additional message.

I have X sessions per month and Y percent of my customers use search. How much would Nobi cost for me?

Our standard pricing tiers apply to customers with up to 10,000 messages per month. For customers with higher usage, we offer custom enterprise plans, usually with generous volume-based discounts. Please contact our sales team for a personalized quote based on your specific needs. We can also provide significant discounts for search-mode only setups if you’re only looking to replace the search engine for your product catalog.

What kind of support do you offer?
