Overview

Our Cart Product Recommendations feature automatically suggests relevant products when shoppers add items to their cart. Using AI-powered recommendations. When a customer adds a product to their cart, Nobi analyzes the item and displays curated product collections that complement their selection. Shoppers can further refine these recommendations through interactive "pills" that offer different perspectives like "Show me eco-friendly options" or "What accessories go with this?"

Key Benefits

  • Increase Average Order Value: Surface relevant cross-sells and upsells at the moment of highest purchase intent
  • Personalized Shopping Experience: AI-driven recommendations based on the specific product added to cart
  • Interactive Refinement: Dynamic follow-up questions let shoppers explore different product angles
  • Seamless Integration: Automatically replaces existing cart recommendations with AI-powered suggestions
  • Zero Friction: Works entirely within the cart drawer—no additional clicks required

How It Works

Product Addition Detection

The Cart Assistant monitors cart additions through browser events. When a shopper adds a product:
  1. The product's internal ID and variant ID are captured
  1. Nobi's AI analyzes the product characteristics and context
  1. Recommendations are fetched and displayed in the cart drawer
  1. The cart drawer automatically opens (with a brief delay for natural pacing)

Intelligent Recommendations

Recommendations are organized into thematic collections (e.g., "Complete the Look", "Customers Also Bought"). Each collection contains 1-3 carefully selected products that complement the cart item.
The system considers:
  • Product relationships and compatibility
  • Items already in the cart (to avoid duplicates)
  • Merchant's catalog and inventory
  • Shopping context and patterns
