How Nobi Attributes Sales

Your Nobi reports show the orders and revenue that Nobi helped create. This page explains which orders Nobi attributes to itself, how much of each order counts, and how to also attribute orders that follow support chats on your product pages.

What Counts as an Attributed Order

Nobi attributes an order when a shopper uses Nobi to reach a product and then buys that product within the attribution window. A shopper reaches a product through Nobi when they:
  • Click a product Nobi showed them in a search or chat
  • Open a product page from a link in a Nobi chat
  • Add a product to the cart with Quick Add
  • Add a product to the cart on a page they opened from Nobi
  • Open a product from Nobi's suggestions as they type
  • Open a product from a listing Nobi filtered for them

The Attribution Window

The attribution window is 24 hours. The purchase must happen within 24 hours of the shopper's interaction with Nobi. Interactions older than that do not count.

What Part of the Order Counts

  • Only the line items Nobi helped with. If a shopper buys one product they found through Nobi and another they found elsewhere, only the first one counts.
  • Pre-tax prices. Revenue is the pre-tax price of each attributed line item.
  • Each line item counts once. If several Nobi interactions led to the same product, the most recent one gets the credit.

Which Entry Point Gets the Credit

An entry point is a place on your site where shoppers start using Nobi, such as the AI Search Bar, a floating chat bar, suggestion pills, or your own buttons that open Nobi through the JavaScript API. Each attributed line item is credited to the entry point the shopper used. You can filter the Performance page by entry point to see each one's orders and revenue.

Sales Attribution for Support Chats

Some stores use Nobi mainly for support, for example a "Questions about fit?" button on their product pages. In these chats the shopper is already on the product page, so Nobi often does not show them a product, and by default those orders are not attributed.
You can change this in Account → Settings → Attribution by choosing the entry points where shoppers chat with Nobi for support. For each chosen entry point, Nobi attributes an order when:
  • the shopper sent Nobi a chat message through that entry point while on a product page, and
  • the same shopper bought that product, in any size or color, within the attribution window.
Searches do not count, only chats. If another Nobi interaction already earned credit for the same line item, that credit stays where it is, so nothing is counted twice. Turning the setting on or off changes the last two days of reports and everything after.

Limits

  • Shopify stores. Attribution relies on Shopify's checkout events, so it works on Shopify stores.
  • Same browser and device. Nobi connects the interaction and the purchase through the shopper's browser. A shopper who chats on their phone and buys on their laptop is not attributed.
  • Report delay. Reports update every hour, so a new order can take up to an hour to appear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Nobi's revenue lower than my store's total revenue?

Nobi only counts the line items it helped with, bought within 24 hours, at their pre-tax price. Orders placed without Nobi, and other items in the same order, are not attributed to Nobi.

Does a different size or color of the same product count?

Yes, when the shopper clicked or opened that product through Nobi, or chatted with Nobi about it on its page. Quick Add and add to cart count only the exact size or color that was added.

Should I turn on sales attribution for support chats?

Turn it on for the entry points shoppers use to ask about a product they are already viewing, such as a fit or sizing button, a floating chat bar, or suggested questions on your product pages. Leave it off if you only want to count sales of products Nobi recommended.
